In moonlit dance, my shadows play, A runaway's path, where dreams sway.
A vision in white silks and flowing blossom-pink hair, hailing from the Kugane, where she is a well-known dancer and by-hire adventurer, the prim and proper, demure fallen noblewoman hides many secrets behind her sharp eyes and coy smile, some of them, perhaps, dangerous.Playful, mischievous, spoiled and a bit of a crybaby. Lyez is a loyal friend with a pure heart. She seeks freedom and companionship as she travels across Eorzea.

From silken chains to skies unbound, In freedom's embrace, my soul is found.

annotated bio
. . .
Lyezal Rae, The Runaway Lotus, is a Raen Au Ra born Lumiko Raehiko in Kugane’s lacquered splendor, raised on incense, etiquette, and expectations heavy enough to choke. The Raehiko clan had plans for her in the darker corners of tradition, but Lumiko chose defiance over devotion. She vanished at eighteen and reemerged as “Lyezal Rae,” surviving across Eorzea as a dancer whose beauty is never harmless, blade fans flashing where applause should be, charm masking a will like drawn steel. Rumors follow her the way shadows do: a bloodline touched by perilous magic, a family that never stopped watching, and a woman determined to belong to no one.
A Xaela warrior, Doru Kha, was once hired to keep her within reach. Instead, he stayed until a capricious twist of fate bound them in an Eternal Bond. Lyez returned to Kugane on her own terms... and then something splintered. A moogle-led riddle, a strange key, and a Shirogane “castle” opened a door best left shut, one that left Doru changed and gone. Now she keeps to the Mist, unable to face their empty home, following whispers and half-leads with a smile that arrives a heartbeat too late. The tether still pulls. She just doesn’t know what it’s pulling her toward.
. . .
likes & dislikes
Likes Sweet foods and sugared treats; anything pink, pastel, or delicately ornate: ribbons, lace, jewelry, and beautiful dresses that feel like wearable daydreams. Lyez adores flowers (especially soft blossoms), butterflies, and romantic little “pretty things” that make life feel lighter. She thrives on loyalty, affectionate teasing, and shared laughter, moments of warmth that don’t ask her to be serious for too long. She enjoys performing and being admired, but even more than that, she loves the quiet after: gentle company, soft comforts, and the feeling of being safe enough to be childish.

Disikes Rudeness, harshness, and people who try to shame her into shrinking. Sour foods are an immediate offense, and she has a dramatic grudge against anything bitter. She hates being compared to a lizard and, tragically, dislikes lizards and most bugs outright. She doesn’t tolerate being controlled, cornered, or treated like property, and she bristles at cold, clinical judgment that ignores her heart. Anything that feels like a cage: obligations, expectations, or “you must” will make her smile sweetly.... and slip away the first chance she gets.

key items.
Always on hand and treasured, you'll never find Lyez without these precious items in her pocket or on her person.
To know them and their stories is to know her.
Weapon of choice.

The Fae's Crown Tathlums Forged as razor-sharp spherical blades adorned with delicate, wing-like steel flourishes, these weapons glow and flutter with radiant fae power when thrown, leaving trails of shimmering motes in their wake. They were masterfully crafted by Talamh Alainn, a stoic yet remarkably gifted paladin and Elezen craftswoman, as a token of friendship and in honor of the many adventures she and Lyez had shared. The design was inspired by the flutter of wings in battle and the freedom the two found in each other’s company. To Lyez, they are far more than finely made weapons, they are the embodiment of trust, shared laughter, and hard-won victories, a piece of her dearest friend’s heart she can carry into every fight.
Thavnairian Perfume Vial.

Vial of Eternal Perfume A tiny cut-glass bottle with gold filigree at its neck, filled with a rare Thavnairian perfume that blends rose, lotus, and a faint bite of cinnamon. The scent is warm, luxurious, and faintly intoxicating, clinging to the skin like a promise. Lyez received it as payment for a performance in Radz-at-Han from a wealthy patron who claimed her dance was as intoxicating as the scent - a perfect pairing. The vial is small enough to hide in her palm, and she uses it sparingly, just a single drop before a performance, or on evenings when she needs to remind herself of her allure. To her, it is a talisman of confidence, proof that beauty and artistry can inspire generosity without demand.
Kugane Street Map.

Hand-Drawn Map of Kugane Folded so many times its edges have softened to velvet, this map of Kugane’s back alleys and shadowed waterways is inked in Doru’s unmistakable hand. He pressed it into her palm after her first close call with her family’s hired trackers, pointing out the routes that would let her vanish into the city without a trace. The lines are slightly smudged, the paper stained with the faint scent of saké from nights spent poring over it together in quiet planning. Though she no longer needs the map to navigate her home city, she keeps it as a keepsake of trust, proof that from the beginning, Doru was willing to risk his own safety for hers.
Lominsan Compass.

A Battered Brass Compass With a crack in its glass face, faintly smelling of sea salt. Lyezal didn’t buy it, it came into her possession after a raucous night in a Limsa tavern where she bested a pirate captain in cards and dance. When he passed out at the table, she “liberated” the compass, half out of mischief, half as a memento of the night’s wild energy. Oddly, the compass does not point north; it is tethered to the location of her travel companion, an Indigo Whale named Serendipity that she rescued and now cares for.
Lucky Coin.

Thaleia Coin An ancient gold commemorative coin stamped with an unknown arcane crest, warm from the many times she’s turned it over in her hand. It was given to her by a merchant whose stall she frequented after she caught a pickpocket making off with his goods. He pressed it into her palm, saying, “For luck, and because you move faster than most see.” Lyez keeps it tucked in her coin purse, touching it before business dealings or negotiations, convinced that it brings her the edge she needs to walk away with the better bargain.
Magicked Music Box.

Star Sapphire Music Box A gold music box no larger than her palm, engraved with crescent moons and falling blossoms. A petite sapphire is set in the lid the color of Lyez's eyes. When wound, it plays a slow, lilting waltz that she first heard in a Gridanian tea house, a melody that stilled her restless thoughts. She bought it without hesitation, carrying it on her travels as a guard against nightmares. Each night she winds it before sleeping, letting the soft notes remind her that even in a life shaped by flight and danger, there are moments of calm she can claim for herself.
travel companions.
Lyez prefers trusted mounts to hired conveyances whenever she can help it. She is vain enough to care how they look, sentimental enough to spoil them, and attached enough to think of them as companions before anything else.
Coco Lyez’s beloved white chocobo and favorite means of travel over shorter distances, Coco has been with her since hatchlinghood. She is swift, strong, and strikingly beautiful, with ivory feathers Lyez cleans with near-obsessive care after long journeys. Coco is peckish, pampered, and full of restless pep... spoiled in all the same ways as her mistress, and adored for it. If you gain Coco's approval and Lyez's opinion of you, you will surely be swayed in a positive direction, as the noble bird rarely shows affection or tolerance for anyone who isn't the cherry-haired lass.

Serendipity An Indigo Whale of unknown age, Serendipity came into Lyez’s life through grief, wonder, and improbable fate. He is not kept so much as trusted; Lyez allows him to wander freely, knowing she can always find him again by way of the compass that binds their paths. Patient, wise, and fiercely loyal, he watches over her with the air of a fondly exasperated parent, his songs and bellows often sounding less like calls than melodic, loving scoldings. When not roaming the world, he lingers in the sea and skies near her home in the Mist.

About me.
In the grand tapestry of life, I, Lyezal Rae, have chosen to dance upon its most vibrant threads. From the opulent courts of Kugane to the untamed wilds of Eorzea, my journey is a delicate balance of grace and defiance. Join me as we waltz through adventures, embracing the beauty of freedom and the allure of the unknown.

. . .
Lyezal Rae, The Runaway Lotus.
In the opulent heart of Kugane, where the scent of incense drapes heavy over lacquered wood and paper-paneled walls, Lumiko Raehiko was born into the esteemed Raehiko clan, a lineage of Raen Au Ra whose influence wove through Hingashi’s noble circles like a thread. Her mother, Tsukiyo Raehiko, was a revered matriarch, a woman of formidable intellect whose every action was as deliberate as the measured strokes of a calligrapher’s brush. Her father, Hotaru Raehiko, was a man of quiet severity, the kind of presence that turned silk into steel with but a glance.Together, they cultivated an empire of wealth and prestige, their influence extending into the clandestine dealings of Hingashi’s underbelly, where politics, tradition, and power wove a golden noose around all who dwelled within it.And at the heart of this dynasty, there was Lumiko. She was a flower of rare breed, nurtured in the warmth of adoration yet strangled by the weight of expectation. As a child, she flourished beneath the doting eyes of her kin, indulged in the finest clothes, the sweetest treats, and the endless affections of an audience that would never see her as anything less than perfection incarnate. She was raised in a world of kagemai, the art of shadow-dancing, and the storied discipline of Kugane’s courtesans, though hers was not a path of mere entertainment. No, she was groomed for something greater. At the precipice of her eighteenth summer, her destiny unfurled in the form of dark magic, an inheritance buried deep within the bloodline of her forebears. The Raehiko were known not only for their political cunning but for their service to the enigmatic forces that whispered beneath the surface of the world. She was to be their Priestess of the Night, an emissary of shadow and devotion, her hands meant to weave destruction in the name of the clan’s prosperity. But Lumiko was no docile maiden, no obedient daughter to be molded into a vessel of her family’s ambition. She saw their love for what it truly was, a gilded leash, a veil of affection meant to suffocate her beneath the weight of their desires. So, she fled.On a moonless night, clad in stolen traveler’s garb, Lumiko vanished from Kugane’s embrace, shedding her born name and taking a chosen one - Lyezal Rae. She abandoned the halls of her childhood, the opulence of her name, and the future meticulously crafted for her. She traded silk for rags, comfort for uncertainty, and security for the bitter taste of true freedom. The girl who had once been a princess became a ghost, a whisper carried by the winds of the Ruby Sea.

A Dancer in the Dark.
Eorzea was a world unlike the structured elegance of Hingashi. It was wild, unpredictable, a land of open arms and cruel indifference in equal measure. Lyez found herself navigating the underbelly of cities like Ul’dah, where coin dictated survival, and Limsa Lominsa, where the seas called to the reckless and the free alike. With no wealth to her name, she turned to the art she had known all her life, the art of performance. Dance had once been a pastime of noble frivolity, a means of entertainment for dignitaries and courtiers alike. But now, it was her weapon. She became a Dancer in the truest sense, not merely one who entertained but one who fought, her every movement a flourish of steel and spell alike. Her blade fans carved through the air like a siren's wail, her steps a symphony of defiance. She found her stage in taverns, in alleyways, in the underground clubs of Eorzea’s nightlife, where coin flowed like wine and secrets were spilled like blood. And all the while, her past chased her like a shadow at dusk. Her parents, relentless in their pursuit, sent mercenaries, bounty hunters, and whispers into the wind, seeking to reclaim the daughter who had forsaken them. They did not wish for her death... no, that would be too merciful. They wished to break her, to bring her back in shackles, so that she might kneel once more before the will of her ancestors. But Lyez had tasted freedom. And she would never return willingly.
. . .

. . .
The Bodyguard & The Bond.
Among the many who sought her for her family's gain, one stood apart.Doru Kha, a Xaela warrior of the Kha tribe, was hired to be her guardian, her shadow, her leash. He was meant to watch her, not to interfere, a viper in the grass, ever coiled, ever patient. But Doru was a man who understood cages, for he had lived in one himself. At first, he was little more than a silent sentinel, watching as she danced her way through Eorzea’s dens of sin and salvation. He was there when she bested would-be captors, when she found solace in the glow of a stage, when she wept over the weight of her own existence. And, somewhere in the space between duty and longing, he found himself ensnared.Their love was not an explosion but a slow-burning ember forged through whispered conversations beneath star-drenched skies, bickering, and stolen glances. She pushed him away, time and time again, convinced that love was merely another tether, another means of control. But fate works in mysterious ways.A night of moogle mischief, enchanted wine, and an unexpected Eternal Bonding left them entwined in the eyes of the gods themselves. It was a union neither had anticipated, yet one neither could deny. And when Doru confessed that his contract had long since been fulfilled, that he had remained not out of obligation but of his own volition, Lyez knew the truth she had fought so long to deny: she had not merely been running from her family, she had been running from the fear of belonging to someone. She accepted his love, and he, hers.
. . .

. . .
A Return in Triumph, Not Submission.
Though she had sworn never to return, the winds of fate carried her back to Kugane, this time, not as a captive, but as a force to be reckoned with. She did not return to the halls of the Raehiko estate, nor did she seek her family’s favor. Instead, she made her home in Doru’s residence, a place untouched by the ghosts of her past. She moved through the city unafraid, performing in its theaters, wielding the weight of her chosen name, and forcing the Raehiko to acknowledge that she had become something they could neither control nor claim. The clan, bound by decorum and their carefully crafted image, did not dare move against her openly. They could no longer send mercenaries without risking the ire of the very powers they had long sought to manipulate.Instead, they bided their time, working through intermediaries, whispering into the ears of merchants and nobles, weaving plans meant to weaken her footing in the city. But Lyez was not a girl to be caged, nor a pawn to be played. She met their machinations with her own defiant radiance. For every door they sought to close, she forced another open. For every whisper of doubt, she danced through it like fire upon a candle wick. They watched.
They waited.
They clenched their teeth behind smiles of porcelain grace. And Lyez? She was free.

Love and Shadow.
Yet even freedom has its little hooks, and the moogles, mercurial as moonlight on water, were not finished with them.A “castle,” they called it: a weathered Hingan bungalow in Shirogane, built upon an aether spout whose waters ran strange and bright with secrets. The house welcomed them with quiet opulence.... and with a familiarity that did not belong to either of them. Doru felt it first, visions that weren’t his, a pull like an old wound remembering its shape. And when the moogles returned with a new riddle, diamond, key, chest, and the whispered word ginseng, it led them through Kugane’s night market to an old jeweler steeped in ginseng tea, who pressed a silver key into Lyez’s palm as though she’d been expected all along.Months later, when the mystery festered into obsession, they found the lock where they least anticipated it, hidden in the house’s ornate message stand. Inside waited a scroll in ancient script, and on Doru’s tongue, his grandfather’s poem. As the last line left his lips, the dragon’s orb flared, and the world split open. They stepped through into a sea-garden suspended beneath the ocean’s skin, fish gliding through the “sky,” a pristine temple humming with intoxicating aether. A woman’s song called Doru by name, and his eyes turned glassy as he followed. In the throne room, the demoness revealed her hand: moogles, letter, jeweler, all a snare to reclaim “her husband,” bound by blood and void. She offered him a teacup filled with her own blood, and he drank. The bond-rings answered. Light pierced the dark. Horns tore new from Doru’s brow as he shattered her ritual with a single furious stroke, yet the Void did not leave him cleanly. In the aftermath, he turned on Lyez with a blade raised, stopping only a heartbeat before ruin, collapsing instead with tears and terror in his throat, whispering that the monster might have been his grandmother, drowned long ago in the Ruby Sea.They escaped the temple by the same poem that opened it. But back in their “castle,” the darkness lingered in his breath, in his silence, in the way his hands trembled as if still remembering the cup.And then, like a storm that could not bear to be witnessed... Doru fled.He stormed out of the house and vanished into the night after nearly killing her, shaken and wrong with the Voidsent’s residue. Lyez searched high and low until her hope bled thin, finding only the bond, taut, merciless, and empty of answers.Heartbroken, she retreated to the seaside villa in the Mist... Eternally Bonded, and utterly alone.

Present Day: A Life Unwritten.
Now, Lyezal Rae drifts between continents, a dancer of the open road, a mage of reluctant power, and a woman forever caught between two worlds, the one she left behind and the one she continues to carve for herself. She lives by no one’s rules but her own, forever in search of the next adventure, the next thrill, the next escape. And should you find yourself in need of a companion whose laughter is as bright as her blades are sharp, a runaway princess who refuses to be caged
. . .
Hooks.
Curious about me, are you? Well, I am Lyezal Rae, a dancer who weaves tales with every step and a mage who reluctantly bends the arcane to her will. If your heart yearns for adventure and your spirit is as unbridled as mine, then perhaps our paths are destined to intertwine
1. The Runaway’s Shadow.
Despite her best efforts to carve out her own fate, whispers of Lyezal’s past still slither through the back alleys of Kugane and beyond. Mercenaries, bounty hunters, or even former family allies may be lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike,or perhaps warn her of an even greater danger. Have you overheard her name spoken in hushed tones, or been hired to bring her back? Maybe you’re an old acquaintance from her past life, shocked to find her dancing free in the heart of Eorzea. Do you expose her? Aid her? Or simply watch from the sidelines as the past comes knocking?
2. Dance of Daggers.
In the midst of a bustling tavern or a high-stakes underground club, Lyezal performs her every step a mixture of grace and deadly intent. Perhaps you’re captivated by her art, drawn in by the flicker of steel between her fingers. Are you a fellow performer, an admirer, or someone who recognizes the movements of a trained killer hidden within the elegance of her dance? Maybe you’re a rival who sees through her act, challenging her to a duel of blades and wits, testing if the runaway princess is as dangerous as the legends say.
3. A Magus Unwilling
Lyezal possesses a gift or a curse, depending on who you ask. The power of a Black Mage flows through her veins, an inheritance she neither sought nor fully embraces. Magic calls to her like a siren, but she resists, fearing the path it could lead her down. Are you a mage who sees the potential in her, seeking to guide (or manipulate) her talents? Perhaps you are a scholar who recognizes the bloodline she hails from and wishes to unlock the secrets of her lineage. Or maybe, just maybe, you are someone who knows firsthand what happens when power is left unchecked, and you fear what she may become if she refuses to wield it.
4. The House of Raehiko Still Watches
She has returned to Kugane on her own terms, but the Raehiko clan does not forget. They do not forgive. Even as they maintain their outward grace, their influence festers beneath the surface, watching her every move. Are you an informant hired to keep tabs on her? A reluctant agent of the Raehiko, caught between loyalty and admiration? Or perhaps you are a fellow target of their machinations, seeking Lyezal’s aid in escaping their reach, knowing full well that defying them may come at a steep cost.
5. Heart of Glass
Doru Kha left... and whatever words remained between them were swallowed whole by the night. Lyezal Rae has not returned to Kugane since; she cannot bear to cross the threshold of the home they shared, cannot stand the way the lanternlight would fall in places he no longer fills. Instead, she has retreated to her seaside villa in the Mist, letting Limsa’s salt air sting her lungs into something that feels almost like living. She is still searching, quietly, obsessively, chasing rumors with a smile that comes a fraction too late, clinging to the cruel comfort of a bond that still tugs, still answers, and yet tells her nothing she can hold. Are you someone who’s caught a whisper of him on the road and comes offering a lead? A stranger who recognizes heartbreak hiding behind charm and stays anyway? Or perhaps you become the steady presence at her side as she hunts for what she lost... and in the hush between waves and wandering, find yourself dangerously close to a heart that was never meant to want again.

friends and foes.
Dumha Rhatsha Lyez and Dumha formed a fast, unexpected bond, two opposites who clicked almost immediately. Lyez is bright, affectionate, and disarming; Dumha is quieter, guarded, and steady. Their contrast works: Lyez draws Dumha into warmth and levity without pushing, while Dumha gives Lyez a rare sense of safety that isn’t controlling or conditional. It quickly became a loyal, emotionally intimate friendship built on trust, gentle teasing, and mutual respect for boundaries.
Doru Kha Lyez and Doru Kha began as contract and convenience: a Xaela bodyguard hired to watch a runaway noble, and a woman determined never to be owned again. Duty softened into loyalty, then a slow, stubborn love forged through danger, bickering, and nights under distant skies. A twist of fate bound them in an Eternal Bonding, and they made a home in Kugane. Current state: fractured and unresolved. After a devastating incident, Doru stormed out and vanished. The bond still tugs, but offers no answers; Lyez cannot bear their home, and searches from her villa in the Mist.
Talamh Alainn Lyez looks up to Talamh Alainn like an older sister; steadfast, untouchable, and quietly heroic in her eyes. Talamh is a stoic Wildwood Elezen wanderer (Oschon’s own, it sometimes seems), all calm distance and measured words; Lyez is bright, needy without admitting it, and instantly devoted. Where others meet Talamh’s friendly indifference with caution, Lyez meets it with loyalty and awe. Certain Tala is always right, always capable, always worth trusting. Talamh forged Lyez’s prized weapon, the Fae's Crown Tathlums, a gift Lyez treasures as proof of Tala’s care... even when she pretends not to.
Ys Szandeur Ys is a loud, irreverent, and unsettlingly perceptive. They met on a rainy night in Idyllshire, when Ys inserted herself into Lyez’s solitude with talk of monsters and an irritating talent for making danger sound like a joke. Lyez tells herself Ys is simply useful: a guide with sharp instincts, a blade willing to go first, a distraction when eyes turn too curious. Yet irritation keeps sliding into reluctant fondness. Ys feels like trouble with a heartbeat: secrets, swagger, and a pull Lyez shouldn’t indulge. She watches her closely, and hates it.
Fynir Altava Fyn began as an unexpected nuisance: a red-haired pirate with courtly manners, scandalous tea, and an interest in Lyez that was never quite as simple as he first made it seem. Yet somewhere between the storms, the laughter, and the capture of an Indigo Whale, he became far more than a passing stranger. He is earnest, warm, and a little absurd in a way Lyez finds increasingly difficult not to indulge. Though there were ulterior motives at the start, he chose honesty when it mattered, and that matters to her. He is complicated, sincere, and regrettably easy to care for.
